We warmly welcome you to Early Learning & Childcare (ELC)
Every child deserves the best possible start in life with the support that enables them to develop their potential.
At Canaan Lane Early Learning & Childcare, we offer a safe, caring and enabling learning environment which focuses on developing communication and language skills, social and emotional wellbeing, literacy and numeracy skills. We value strong home-school links and the positive difference they can make to a child’s happiness and success.
We understand that starting nursery or moving setting is a significant moment for any child. We will strive to ensure your child settles in smoothly to Canaan Lane Early Learning & Childcare and ensure their first experience in education is underpinned by memorable activities.
We will provide a broad and balanced curriculum based on the Early Level experiences and outcomes. These are interconnected and are important for building a foundation for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving.
Our aim is for your child to become a happy and confident learner; inspired with a love of learning, which we hope they will carry throughout their life.

Our Early Years philosophy
- We value each child as unique and as an individual
- We believe that children learn best through play-based activities and first-hand experience. Through play, children explore and develop learning experiences, which help them make sense of the world. Through play, children practice and build up ideas, and learn how to control themselves. Though play, they have opportunities to think creatively alongside other children, as well as on their own. Through play, they learn to communicate with others as they investigate and solve problems.
- We observe what children can do and support them to fulfill their potential. In doing so, we support children to become independent learners through the provision of a balance of child initiated and adult led experiences. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum which enables each child to develop emotionally, socially, physically, creatively, and intellectually to their full potential and at their own pace.
