We recognise that children learn to be strong and independent when they experience secure relationships. We aim to develop caring, respectful and professional relationships with learners and their families.
Parents/Carers as partners
We firmly believe that parents/carers are every child’s primary educators. Our philosophy is rooted in two-way communication and full partnership, from the family’s first introduction to our school/Early Learning &Childcare and beyond. We promote this by:
- talking to parents/carer about their child before their child starts in our school/Early Learning & Childcare
- offering opportunities for parents/carers to spend time with staff as their child starts school/Early Learning & Childcare
- inviting all parents/carers to an Induction Meeting during the term before their child starts school
- offering parents/carers regular opportunities to talk about their child’s progress
- encouraging parents/carers to talk to the child’s teacher/key worker if there are any concerns
- arranging formal meeting opportunities for parents/carers throughout the year at which the teacher and the parents/carer discuss the child’s progress
- parents/carers receive a report on their child’s attainment and progress at the end of each school year
- inviting all parents/carers to a Curriculum Evening to discuss how the children learn in school
- holding ‘Stay and Play’ sessions for learners and their parents/carers
- encouraging two-way communication about each child outside of the school/Early Learning & Childcare
