Primary 1 is a very special part of your child’s school journey. We hope your child will have a fun-filled year of exploration, learning and development.
At Canaan Lane, we strive to provide a unique, challenging and inspirational curriculum based on new and memorable experiences.
Establishing strong relationships with our children and families is our priority at the beginning of the school year. During the year, we will work with your child to learn and understand their individual needs and support them in their learning and development.
Our aim is for your child to become a happy and confident learner, inspiring them with a love of learning, which we hope they will carry throughout their life.
Our Early Years philosophy
- We value each child as unique and as an individual
- We believe that children learn best through play-based activities and first-hand experience. Through play, children explore and develop learning experiences, which help them make sense of the world. Through play, children practice and build up ideas, and learn how to control themselves. Though play, they have opportunities to think creatively alongside other children, as well as on their own. Through play, they learn to communicate with others as they investigate and solve problems.
- We observe what children can do and support them to fulfill their potential. In doing so, we support children to become independent learners through the provision of a balance of child initiated and adult led experiences. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum which enables each child to develop emotionally, socially, physically, creatively, and intellectually to their full potential and at their own pace.
